Review: Korres Vanilla Cinnamon Showergel

Bottom line: I like Korres Vanilla Cinnamon Showergel, but I don't love it. It smells good, lather OK and moisturizes well, but the scent just isn't as strong as I like.

I was wanting to use a shower gel with a good fall scent, and I hoped Korres Vanilla Cinnamon Showergel would fit the bill. I'm a Korres fan but hadn't tried their shower gels, so I was pretty curious.

What I found was a pretty typical shower gel.

The lather is OK — you need to use a bath puff and work with it a bit to get a good lather, but once you do it's fine. The texture is a little bit more oily than most shower gels, but it's not a problem or anything.

The scent is very nice. It's kind of a warm cinnamon, with only a hint of vanilla. I think it smells like the kitchen at Christmas time. (Well, not my kitchen — the kitchen of someone who actually cooks.) Unfortunately, the scent isn't that strong and doesn't really fill up the shower with the scent; I had to sniff the puff to really smell it strongly. And it doesn't linger on skin at all

Review: C.O. Bigelow Spearmint Mentha Lip Shine

Bottom line: The spearmint flavor is a bit too toothpaste-reminiscent for me, but C.O. Bigelow Spearmint Mentha Lip Shine is a winner — long-lasting, great shine, moisturizing and leaves your lips with a little tingle.

I've always heard good things about C.O. Bigelow lip products, which are sold at Bath & Body Works, and I finally picked up one of their mentha lip shines during the last semi-annual sale. Unfortunately, there was only one flavor that was 75% off — spearmint. But I'm OK with spearmint, so I decided to go for it.

The lip balm is in good, basic packaging: a .5 oz. tube with a slanted tip for easy application. It's nothing flashy, but it's sturdy. They seem to have modernized the labeling now, but I like the way mine looks — it's supposed to be reminiscent of old medicine labels, I think.

The Mentha Lip Shines are supposed to provide a refreshing cooling sensation and help freshen breath. I think they do less breath freshening than breath camouflaging, but I guess it's a nice thought. I like the tingle-y feeling though; It's a lot like Crest Wetslicks Amazemint gloss. While I like the Amazemint glosses, I found the C.O. Bigelow product to be a much better product overall because they provide more shine and are much better moisturizers.

I really like the shine that the Mentha lip shine provides. It's some of the best shine I've seen in a lip product, and I know I've never found something that has this much shine and moisturizes this well.

The lip shine lasts for several hours, and it leaves my lips feeling very moisturized.

The one thing I'm not crazy about is the spearmint scent/flavor. It tastes fine, but it's just too toothpaste-like for my tastes. I'll probably buy this product again, but I'll probably choose another flavor, like vanilla or cinnamon, next time.

This is a clear lip product, so if you like a little hint of color, it's probably not for you. You could apply it over another lip product if you wanted more shine, though.

Flavors: Mentha Lip Shine, Ultra Mentha Lip Shine, Vanilla Mint, Cinnamint and Spearmint. There are also several flavors of lip tints, lip shimmers and lip coolers.

Price: $7.50

Can I get it cheaper? Yes. Bath & Body Works and frequently have discounts and deals where you can buy two or three products and get one free.

Ingredients: Polybutene, Petrolatus, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Mentha Viridis (Spearamint) Leaf Oil, Silics Silylate, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Mentha Arvensis Leaf Oil, Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Oil, Menthol, Canola Oil, Octdedecanol, Methyl Diisopropyl Propionamide, Quaternium-18 Hectorite, Vanillin, Sodium Saccharin, Propylene Carbonate, Myrcene, 3-Hexenol, Limonene.

Drugstore Foundation Project update

Since I haven't posted any new foundation reviews in awhile, thought I'd give a progress update.

Right now, I'm testing out Neutrogena SkinClearing Oil Free makeup. It's taken me a bit longer because I wanted to compare the current formula to the older one, which I used to really like and still happened to have a little bit of.

I've also been dabbling with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Glow Sheers. I only need to purchase and test two more, Neutrogena Mineral Sheer Liquid and Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid, and I'll be done with the Neutrogena line. And I've used Healthy Skin Liquid makeup before in an older formulation, so hopefully I can also compare those two.

I've purchased Revlon ColorStay and a couple of Maybelline foundations to try soon. Oddly, I've never tried the regular Revlon ColorStay, even though I love the ColorStay mousse. I'm looking forward to that one.

Ulta's got Revlon, Maybelline and NYX at 40% off right now, so that helped me get started on purchasing some of the foundations I'll need.
